If you're at all a fan of the Grand Theft Auto series, the Red Dead series, the Max Payne series, L.A. Noire, or even The Italian Job game (the PS1 game based on the Michael Caine movie, not the new one), then you're going to like this news.
Take Two Interactive has just trademarked the name Rockstar Films as of June 14th, 2011 (filed December 21st, 2010).

There really isn't a lot of information as far as what Rockstar plans to do with this new name (they're being very tight-lipped about it), but if their games are any indication, I can guarantee that we can expect some high quality, highly substantive work in the realm of film from these guys.
The guys over at SystemLink Alt did a little investigative reporting, and they uncovered a nice little quote from Dan Houser to The Hollywood Reporter that could hint at something:
If we were to attempt to make a movie [of GTA], we would like to make it ourselves.
Can't wait to see what they do with it!
