Stuntman Dies On Set, Another Critically Injured

I guess it was bound to happen: you make a movie as violent and full of action as THE EXPENDABLES, the next one had to have even more; and with that comes an even higher risk. Tragedy struck on the set of EXPENDABLES 2 this week in Bulgaria as two stuntmen were involved in an accident while filming. The stunt involved an explosion and was under the supervision of director Simon West and executive producer Sylvester Stallone.

One stuntman survived the incident and is currently in critical condition at a hospital. The other, however, didn't make it; he died on set.

“It is with great regret that we confirm this unfortunate accident,” Nu Image/Millennium Films, the production company behind The Expendables 2, said in a statement. “Our hearts go out to the families and those on the production affected by this tragedy. The filmmakers are working closely with the authorities in responding to and investigating this accident.”
The names of those involved were not disclosed at this time, pending a police investigation into the matter. The thoughts of those here at Exophrine go out to the friends, families, and loved ones of those involved. We hope for a full recovery of the one survivor and that production gets back on track soon.
